Quick question for you: How do you reply to comments that are left on your blog posts?
I used to reply to comments left on my blog posts by writing a reply on a blog post of the person who left the comment but I have seen bloggers who comment after wards on there own comment page in response to the person.
I've not lost/confused you yet have I?
I know there are programs like Disqus that make replying to comments easy but I just couldnt get on with it/found it messed up things on my blog so i removed it. I may try it again at some point in the future as it does seem like the best way to interact with the reader.
I feel like it's a must thing to reply to comments unless it is a simply comment which doesn't need a reply, I feel rude if someone went to the effort to read what I wrote, left a comment and then I didn't respond to what they had to say.
Anyone else got any different ways/ideas on how you to reply to comments?
I always try to respond to comments and have found it much easier to do since I started using the Intense Debate comment system. I like that it allows me to respond to comments by replying to them. I also always try to visit the blogs of those who leave me comments and return the favour.
ReplyI have my comments emailed to me for moderation and then I just reply via email. If someone doesn't have their email address automatically hooked up to their comments, I try to look it up on their blog or website & save it so I can reply.
ReplyI will respond to comments in my own blog post because I want the people who comment to KNOW that I AM reading their comments, not just trying to [get as many] comments as I can, all the while ignoring everyone.
ReplyI do care what everyone has to say when they reply and I appreciate their time and effort to comment on mine and for the most part I will check their blog out to see what they have written, however I don't always comment, nothing personal but I believe that you should comment on a blog because you really have some input for that particular post.
I don't want someone to feel like they are [obligated] to comment 'back' just because I left them a comment...
I try to always reply on my blog. I precede my response with name of the person I'm responding to. I think it's very important to reply & doing so on that post - I.e. With all the other comments - means people can see the whole conversation.
ReplyI reply in my own comment field - I think its nicer that way. I love getting comments and without feedback would people still comment.
ReplyI try to reply in the comments section of my blog, but I must admit that during term time it gets very difficult to keep up with all the comments. I read them all and enjoy them, but don't always respond. I'm a much better blogger in the school hols!
ReplyI try and reply in the comments section on my blog and then to engage with people on their blog (especially if its about going through similar stuff)
ReplyI reply in my own comments - and sometimes tweet them to let them know I've replied then they know I've responded. x
ReplyI always try to reply to the comments especially if they're asking me questions or something. I like to keep my blog "alive", that's why I've installed Echo. It keeps the conversation going. I hope.=)
Reply@Erin - is intense debate different to disqus? I think Intense it what I might of used before.
Reply@Randi - I do love the fact you reply to my comments via email it's so personal! :)
@Kasey - Ditto! Great minds think alike!
@Tasha - Yeah - I think that's a good way & that's what I've started to do.
@BNM - It is nicer!
@Working Mum - Lol.. I'm a much better blogger when I dont log into twitter & get distracted!
@Muddling Along Mummy - That's what I try and do.. I comment on here and the go over to there blogs.
@Amanda - Tweeting them is a good idea! :)
@Brenda - Oo echo is something I have not heard of , Will go and google that now! Thanks!
I don't reply to comments unless someone has left a direct question. I just do not have the time and feel that the time I do have is better spent actually commenting on posts that I have read. It is amazing how much time blogging can take up isn't it?
Reply@kelly - it certainly is.. At first I didn't think writing a post would be so difficult. But I often get behind then I have to write 3/4 posts in a day to catch up.But then there's the reading of other blogs , there's so many good ones - how do you find the time to visit them & then there's the distraction of twitter!
