A whole lot of ketchup!
Gessh, what a morning. Seriously, I was only meant to be popping into town for a birthday card but instead ended up at the hospital. Thankfully not me again but then I would of rather it of been me then Oli. I was grabbing his spread out of the cupboard for his toast when I knocked down a ketchup bottle, which smashed all over the side. He was stood right next to me waiting for his breakfast so I guess he must of had his hand on the side when it smashed, at first I thought it was in his face as he bought he hand up to his face which was covered in blood. I grabbed him out of the kitchen and we sat on the living room floor together where I took his PJ top off and used it to stop the bleeding. I phoned the MIL who sent the SIL (it's her birthday!) & her husband round to see to us, of course being pregnant with those stupid pregnancy hormones I may of been *slightly* hysterical on the phone to her. SIL was fab and took Oli off me and helped to clean up the blood whilst I went and got dressed, I was just in my dressing gown as I had not long got out the shower. We decided a trip to a&e was probably called for as it was a glass cut.
My nephew was in the car and was asking questions about why Oli had ketchup all over hand, you just have to love the things kids come out with. It was only the other week he visited a&e himself as he had cut all his chin open, I actually think my family should shares in the hospital with the amount of visits we make between us. It was when we were sitting and waiting for the nurse that I realised it had almost been a year since his first trip to a&e. That time around he had caught his upper gum on the sofa edge, which was the first time I had seen blood appear from him. The nurse looked at his finger and suggested that he have a x-ray just to check to see if any glass had gone into it.
X-ray itself was a nightmare, the guy noticed I was pregnant and asked if I had someone else who could take him in. Obviously hinting at my SIL, but as I told she's 16 weeks pregnant herself. We had to get her husband to go in with Oli, was horrible having to leave him and it didn't help that the room wasn't soundproof so heard all the cries and screams for mummy/daddy. Our nephew was asking why Oli was making such a noise and we had to explain to him that it was a big scary room and that it was all new to him. Got to admit, I loved the whole running into my arms moment when he was let out. It was all clear for glass so the nurse put some steri strips over his finger and gave him a teddy for being such a brave boy. Now we're home I've been scrubbing the carpet trying to de-blood it and I've to chuck the sofa cushion in the wash. The broken glass has been hoovered but I'm quite paranoid about little bits of the glass still being in places so going to go and completely strip the side and hoover everywhere again.
I think I may of earned myself a wine spritzer at the SIL birthday meal later on this evening.
